NVIDIA’s cloud gaming service has completely transformed the gaming experience in recent years. Today, it's possible to enjoy high-end gaming without investing in expensive hardware, thanks to powerful cloud GPUs. As of September 10, NVIDIA is upgrading the GeForce NOW Ultimate package from RTX 4080 to RTX 5080, taking the experience one step further. So, what does this upgrade bring for gamers?

What Does RTX 5080 Bring to GeForce NOW?

Ultimate package members of GeForce NOW will now be able to game on servers powered by the RTX 5080 instead of the RTX 4080. This card delivers approximately 62 TFLOPS of processing power and 48 GB of frame buffer capacity—bringing the pinnacle of desktop hardware performance to the cloud. In short, it enables a cloud gaming experience with ultra-high resolutions, maximum settings, and incredibly smooth frame rates.

DLSS 4, Multi-Frame Generation, and CQS: A New Era in Visual Quality

Among the standout features of the RTX 50 series is DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation (MFG). With MFG technology, frame rates can be pushed to significantly higher levels. In addition, Cinematic Quality Streaming (CQS) allows cloud-based games to stream with near-cinema quality thanks to advanced AV1 CODEC-based compression and HDR10 support. In summary, users with high-speed internet can now enjoy low-latency and high-resolution gaming simultaneously.

New Performance Modes: From 5K 120 FPS to 1080p 360 FPS

The GeForce NOW RTX 5080 update offers gamers the option to choose between various performance modes:

  • 5K resolution at 120 FPS
  • 1440p resolution at 240 FPS
  • 1080p resolution at 360 FPS

These modes provide a more flexible experience especially for competitive gamers focused on visual clarity and low latency. Additionally, thanks to improved NVIDIA Reflex integration, system latency is reduced to as low as 30 ms.

Access to 4,500+ Games with Install-to-Play

NVIDIA continues to greatly expand the GeForce NOW library. With the Install-to-Play feature, more than 2,200 additional Steam Cloud Play games are included in the service. As a result, the total number of accessible games exceeds 4,500. Gamers now have access to a broader range of content through a single membership.

Compatibility with Steam Deck and LG TVs/Monitors

The RTX 5080 upgrade for GeForce NOW isn’t limited to PCs—it impacts various devices as well:

  • LG OLED monitors now support 5K (5120x2880) resolution.
  • Steam Deck users can now play GeForce NOW games at up to 90 FPS.
  • The LG TV app now supports 4K 120 Hz HDR streaming for a premium gaming experience.

This makes GeForce NOW a compelling option not just for PC gamers, but for anyone who wants to game across multiple platforms.

No Change in Ultimate Membership Price

Despite all these innovations, the price of the GeForce NOW Ultimate package remains unchanged. Although regional pricing may vary by country, NVIDIA is not increasing the base price for existing memberships.

New Games Coming in September 2025

Alongside the hardware upgrade, several exciting new games will be added to GeForce NOW in September. These include highly anticipated titles like Hollow Knight: Silksong, Borderlands 4, and Dying Light: The Beast. This means players will enjoy both the latest titles and next-gen hardware power simultaneously.

Ultimate and Performance tier members will also receive an additional 100 GB of cloud storage. For larger games, additional tiers of 200 GB, 500 GB, and 1 TB will be offered with upgraded pricing.

A New Era Begins in Cloud Gaming

With the upcoming RTX 5080 upgrade on September 10, GeForce NOW takes the cloud gaming experience to an entirely new level. Higher resolution, smoother frame rates, cinema-quality streaming, and a vast game library are positioning GeForce NOW as a leader in the gaming world. One of the biggest perks for players is that the price remains unchanged.

Thanks to the RTX 5080, the future of cloud gaming looks brighter than ever with NVIDIA.
